The first place I would check for classes involving children would be the Association of Junior Leagues.  Almost every state has Junior League associations.  They run a program that is called “Kids in the Kitchen”, that offers classes for school age children to learn a variety of cooking skills and nutrition.

Another resource if you live in the state of Vermont is the King Arthur Flour web site.  There is a listing for pastry and baking classes involving your children that may be of interest to you (www.kingarthurflour.com).  If you live in the state of Maryland then the Just Cakes in Bethesda offers great pastry and baking classes for kids.  (www.justcakes.com) .  You children can learn to decorate a cake or make spooky gingerbread house.

If you live in New York City, Cupcake Kids has a wide assortment of pastry and baking classes that would appeal to every child.  Check out there web site (www.cupcakekids.com).  They have to be contacted by phone or E-mail and exact location is not indicated on their web site.  Looks like great fun for a variety of aged children.

For those of you that reside on the west coast and are looking for a more rounded program and not just pastry and baking the Chef Eric’s Culinary classroom (www.culinaryclassroom.com) deserves a look at.  They offer class sessions in the morning 9:30am to 12:00pm or afternoon sessions 1:30 to 4:00pm.  These classes run all summer long running Monday through Thursday.

Another program located on the west coast is in Seattle Washington called Blue Ribbon Cooking (www.blueribboncooking.com). They offer summer camps that run for three days and any age can sign up for the classes.  This pastry and baking classes will teach your child many baking techniques to make your young chef confident in the kitchen.  From bread to cheesecake this class will fulfill any young baker’s aspirations.

If you’re lucky enough to live in the mile high city of Denver then you can look up these wonderful children’s pastry and baking class.  Offered by Kitchen Table Cooking School (www.kitchentablegv.com), these camps are also offered not just in the summer but also at winter school break.

So for the budding chef in your home check out some of the educational and fun classes offered in your area.

Do your children or child show and interest in baking, are they creative and inspired by the pastry industry?  Maybe you should look into enrolling them in a summer pastry and baking school.  Many of these schools offer classes for food enthusisiats or novice bakers.  You can also find summer camps that offer pastry and baking classes.  Depending on what state you reside in their may be the perfect program just waiting for your child’s creative talent.
